Overseas Update: Larkins, Kizer Produce Eye-Popping Stats

Multiple Fever players had spectacular performances this week, making it harder than ever to pick a #FeverOverseas Player of the Week.

Lynetta Kizer’s Hatay club fell to Turkish league power Abdullah Gul, 71-67, but they hung tough throughout the contest, thanks to Kizer’s extraordinary efforts. The 6-foot-4 former Maryland Terrapin tallied 35 points and 12 rebounds for Hatay. She scored over half her club’s points, making 13-of-27 shots from the field and going a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line.

Normally, Kizer’s big night would have made her a shoo-in for Player of the Week honors, but her Fever teammate Erlana Larkins was just as good. Already a double-double machine, Larkins outdid herself on Sunday, scoring 23 points and pulling down 22 rebounds in Adana ASKI’s 85-70 win over Instanbul Universitesi. Larkins went 9-for-15 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line while collecting six of her boards on the offensive glass.

By the narrowest of margins, Larkins is our choice here at FeverBasketball.com for #FeverOverseas Player of the Week. Ours isn’t the only honor she’s picked up this week, as she was also named Eurobasket.com Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Larkins’ teammate Briann January also played a big part in Adana picking up its fifth straight win. January scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out six assists in the club’s victory.

Elsewhere in Turkey, Shavonte Zellous made her 2015 overseas debut, replacing Angel McCoughtry on Fenerbahce. Zellous finished with 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals in 24 minutes as her club cruised to a 28-point win over Osmaniye.

Meanwhile, Marissa Coleman had 17 points and eight rebounds for Edirne, but her club fell to Ormanspor, 90-74.

Several Fever players continue to rank among the league’s statistical leaders in Turkey. Kizer jumped up to fifth in the TKBL in scoring at 17.1 points per game, while Coleman ranks seventh at 16.8 points per contest, and January is ninth at 16.4. Larkins now leads the league in rebounding, collecting 12.9 boards per game. January is sixth in the league in assists, dishing out 4.5 per contest. And Coleman is tied for seventh in steals per game at 1.6, while Larkins and January are right behind her at 1.5.

Finally, in France, Maggie Lucas scored 15 points in Arras’ 72-66 win over Tarbes. Lucas also collected three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the victory. Her scoring average of 18.7 points per game ranks second in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball.
