Storylines & Promotion

  • After a loss last night in Washington, Indiana (8-7) has a quick turnaround as it faces Connecticut (7-6) this evening. This is the Fever’s second back-to-back of the season. Indiana lost consecutive games to Chicago and Minnesota to open the 2015 season June 5-6.
  • The 68-50 loss to the Mystics ended a Fever five-game win streak.
  • Six points in the third quarter versus Washington marks a season-low for Indiana.
  • Indiana, averaging 79 points per game, was limited to 18-of-57 shooting (31 percent) Friday night, while scoring its fewest points since a 50-48 defeat seven years ago on the same floor, falling 50-48 to the Mystics, July 8, 2008.
  • Indiana got double-figure scoring from a pair of University of Maryland alums, Marissa Coleman and Lynetta Kizer, who both returned to their hometowns near the nation’s capital. Coleman scored 11 points while Kizer contributed 10 points and eight rebounds against Washington.
  • Kizer leads the team with 52.9 field goal percentage, which ranks sixth best in the league.
  • Indiana won three straight road contests from 6/16-6/30 — tied for the longest streak in team history.
  • The Fever bench has outscored its opponents in all eight wins this season and 12 of 15 games overall. Indiana currently leads the WNBA in bench scoring with an average of 29.4 points per game.
  • Despite leading the WNBA in three-point percentage this season, the Fever attempted only four three-point field goals in the win over Washington, 7/2, the fewest in any game in franchise history.
  • Tamika Catchings passed Taj McWilliams-Franklin (3,013) into third place on the WNBA’s all-time rebounding list in the first quarter of the win over Tulsa, 7/15. She needs 44 rebounds to pass Tina Thompson (3,070) for second place on the list.
  • June’s WNBA Rookie of the Month Natalie Achonwa will miss four games (July 15-21) as she competes in the Pan Am Games with the Canadian National Team. She ranks second among all rookies with 9.5 points per game.
  • Next up, Indiana wraps up the first half of the season as they travel to San Antonio for a Tuesday matinee with the Stars at 12:30 p.m.
