Storylines & Promotion

  • Indiana prepares for its second game of its July homestand, spanning July 2-15. The Fever (5-6) face the Seattle Storm (3-9) for a Wednesday afternoon tipoff at Bankers Life Fieldhouse that represents Kids Day and features the annual birthday celebration of mascot Freddy Fever.
  • The Fever have won consecutive games and snapped a three-game home losing streak, after defeating the Washington Mystics last Thursday, 73-50. Now 2-4 this season at home the Fever have won 4 of 6 games overall.
  • Washington scored just 16 points in the second half of last Thursday’s win, the fewest points the Fever have ever allowed at home in a single half in franchise history. The mark tied for the second-lowest scoring half ever by a Fever opponent. Indiana held Washington to seven points in the fourth quarter, the fewest in any quarter this season.
  • 50 points marks the lowest scoring total the Fever have allowed in a game since they defeated the Seattle Storm, 72-48, on September 12, 2012.
  • The Fever committed a season-low eight turnovers against the Mystics while collecting a season-high 11 steals.
  • Indiana has shot 50 percent or better from the field in three of its five wins this season.
  • Against Washington, Shenise Johnson scored season-high 16 points and collected a career-high 11 rebounds for the second double-double of her career and first since August 25, 2013. She also tied her career high with four steals for the second consecutive game. Johnson has now scored in double figures in four straight contests, averaging 13.8 points per game over that span.
  • Tamika Catchings was chosen the WNBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week as announced Monday, which is her 22nd such award, the most in WNBA history. She needs seven more rebounds to surpass Taj McWilliams-Franklin for third on the league’s all-time rebounding list and is 59 points shy of second place on the all-time scoring list.
  • Natalie Achonwa has been chosen as the WNBA Rookie of the Month for June. She ranks second out of all first year players with 9.8 points per game. She is third in field goal percentage (51.2 percent) among all rookies and ninth overall in the league. Achonwa’s 4.6 rebounds per game are for third among the rookie class. Her rookie of the month award is the first by any Fever player.

The double digit scoring night for Catchings moved her into third place on the WNBA’s career scoring list. The Storm led 55-51 early in the fourth quarter before Indiana rallied behind Coleman and Catchings, who scored eight and seven, respectively, in the final period. All five Indiana starters scored in double figures as Briann January scored 12 points, Shavonte Zellous had 11 and Erlana Larkins added 10. Last Games
Fever: (July 2, 2015) Shenise Johnson scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds as the Indiana Fever dominated the cold-shooting Washington Mystics for three quarters en route to a 73-50 victory last Thursday night. Tamika Catchings added 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Fever. Washington scored just 16 points in the second half, the fewest the Fever have ever allowed at home in a half. The Mystics shot 8-for-43 for the final three quarters. Ivory Latta, who scored 24 points against Indiana on June 20, finished with five points.

Storm: (July 5, 2015) Seattle dropped an afternoon road contest to the Atlanta Dream, Sunday afternoon, 72-64. The Storm roared back in the fourth quarter to nearly erase a 14-point deficit and cut it to one but a couple of miscues down the stretch ended up being the difference. After a third quarter layup and free throw from Ramu Tokashiki cut the deficit to seven, Atlanta outscored Seattle 13-6 to end the period and took a 14-point lead into the fourth. Seattle fought back in the final quarter, but struggled to find an answer for Angel McCoughtry who finished with 23 points.

Series
After a 76-67 victory at Seattle last season, Indiana evened the series record at 14 a piece. The Fever have won two consecutive and six of the last seven contests dating to 2011. At Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indiana holds an 11-3 lead with its last home loss to the Storm in 2008.
