Storylines
- The Fever (12-9) begin a four-game road swing this Tuesday beginning with the second-place team in the East, the Washington Mystics (13-8). With the top five teams in the East separated by just three games, Indiana can force the Mystics into a third-place tie with a road win Tuesday.
- The Mystics currently own a 2-1 series lead over Indiana this season, with Tuesday’s game and another on Sept. 8 the final matchups of 2015. The Mystics will clinch the series on Tuesday if the Fever does not force a deciding fifth game.
- Last time out, Indiana defeated Atlanta 106-77, which was its fourth win in five games and its seventh straight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The home win streak matches similar streaks in 2006 and 2010, tied as the third-longest in franchise history.
- Indiana set team records for free throws made in a game (40) and attempted (44) and also scored 59 points in the second half, tying the team’s largest scoring total in any half in franchise history.
- The Fever’s 29-point win marked their largest margin of victory this season and the largest since they defeated the Connecticut Sun, 95-61, on June 21, 2012.
- The win was just the sixth time Indiana has scored 100 or more points in a game in regular season history and the first since August 13, 2010 against Phoenix. Indiana’s 106 points matched Chicago for the most in the WNBA this season while representing the second-highest regular season mark in Fever history.
- During Indiana’s seven-game home winning streak, the Fever have averaged 85.7 points per game, shot 47.5 percent from the field and outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points per game.
- Shenise Johnson has now scored in double figures in six straight games and 10 of her last 11 appearances overall. She ranks second in the league in 3-point field goal percentage shooting 43.2 percent from beyond the arc.
- Fever rookie Natalie Achonwa is representing her native Canada this week in the FIBA Americas Championships. She expects to rejoin the club at Los Angeles, Aug. 18, during the club’s West Coast road trip.
- Not since the Fever’s first season in 2000 has Indiana played as many games decided by 20 points or more. Through 21 games this year, 13 have been decided by margins of 10 or more. The Fever own a 7-6 record in games decided by double digits. They are 5-3 in games decided by 1-9 points.
- Tamika Catchings will pass Tina Thompson (3,070 rebounds) as the No. 2 rebounder in WNBA history with just seven more rebounds. With just six more assists, Catchings will become the seventh player in WNBA history – and the first over 6-feet – with 1,400 career assists. Already the WNBA career leader in steals, Catchings needs just 13 steals to become the ONLY player in league history to reach 1,000.
