Storylines & Promotion

  • Indiana (11-8) travels to Chicago for the final matchup of the regular season this Tuesday against the Sky (12-8). Chicago has won seven of its last 10 games and the Fever are seeking a fourth straight win.
  • The top four teams in the Eastern Conference are separated by just two games. Chicago is currently in third place followed by Indiana in fourth.
  • With the win Sunday, the Fever earned their sixth consecutive home victory tying the fifth longest home winning streak in franchise history and the longest since the 2012 season.
  • This is the first time Indiana has been three games above .500 since the championship season of 2012.
  • Sunday was the Fever’s first win this season while trailing at halftime (1-6). Indiana’s 51-point effort ties their largest-scoring second half of the season.
  • The Fever posted their largest rebounding advantage of the season as they outrebounded the Sun, 37-20.
  • Indiana also collected a season-high 14 offensive rebounds while limiting the Sun to three offensive boards – the fewest allowed this season.

  • The rebound margin vs. Connecticut (+17) was the largest of the season for Indiana.
  • Coming back from an 11-point margin was Fever’s largest of the season.
  • Erlana Larkins posted her first double-double of the season as she recorded season highs with 10 points and 13 rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench.
  • Shenise Johnson led the Fever with 16 points, all coming in the second half. She has now scored in double figures eight of her last nine appearances, averaging 14.2 points per game on 48.3 percent shooting over that span. Johnson’s 42.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc ranks second in the league.
  • Briann January has reached double figures in scoring in two consecutive games for the first time this season. She finished with 12 points and a game-high five assists. January has now led the Fever in assists in 10 of their 19 games this season and ranks eighth in the league with 3.5 assist per game. The guard is also eighth in three-point field goal percentage (38.9 percent) and ninth in free throw percentage (89.2 percent).
  • Rookie Natalie Achonwa ranks second in the WNBA in field goal percentage, shooting 54.1 percent (59-of-109) from the field.

Last Meeting
(June 26, 2015) Indiana dropped its third game of the season to Chicago, 83-77, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Cappie Pondexter scored 23 points for the Sky for their third straight victory. The Fever held the WNBA scoring leader Elena Delle Donne to a season-low 14 points, two nights after scoring a career-high 45 points in a home victory over the Atlanta Dream. Allie Quigley added 17 points for Chicago. Marissa Coleman led Indiana with 16 points and Shenise Johnson added 15. The Fever shot 56.3 percent from the field in the first half with 11 assists on 18 buckets. However, in the second half, Indiana hit 28 percent from the field and recorded two assists on seven total buckets. Chicago outscored the Fever 40-25 after halftime and 19-9 in the fourth quarter.

Fever: (August 2, 2015) Shenise Johnson scored all 16 of her points in the second half, Erlana Larkins added 10 points and 13 rebounds and the Indiana Fever rallied to beat the Connecticut Sun for the second time in six days, 83-70 on Sunday. Connecticut led by 11 after one quarter and had a nine-point lead at halftime, but Johnson, Larkins and Briann January led Indiana’s second-half comeback. January finished with 12 points. Kelsey Bone led Connecticut with 20 points, and Alyssa Thomas had 18.

Sky: (August 2, 2015) Elena Delle Donne scored 22 points, including the winning runner with 19 seconds to play to lead the Chicago Sky past the Washington Mystics, 69-68 on Sunday night. Cappie Pondexter and Jessica Breland scored 12 points apiece for Chicago. A layup by LaToya Sanders and a jumper by Stefanie Dolson gave Washington a 68-67 lead with 28 seconds remaining, but Delle Donne answered with a driving scoop shot in the lane to put the Sky ahead. Ivory Latta, who led the Mystics with 19 points, missed a jumper with three seconds left. Breland then hit two free throws to seal it.

Series
Before this season, the Fever have never lost more than two regular season games to the Sky or had a losing record in the season series in the history of the Indiana-Chicago series. Indiana’s 26-point loss to the Sky on June 14 was their first loss by 25 or more points in nearly four seasons. Indiana still leads the series overall 30-11 and holds a 13-7 edge at Chicago.
