Overseas Update: Christmas Scores 42 in Win in Korea

After a two-week holiday hiatus, we’re back with our weekly updates on the seven Fever players currently plying their trade overseas.

We begin this week in Korea, where Karima Christmas has enjoyed three extremely successful weeks. Since we last checked in on her, Christmas has taken on an expanded role offensively for S-Birds. She’s recorded four double-doubles in her last six games, averaging 28.3 points and 10.8 rebounds and propelling her club to a 5-1 record over that stretch.Overseas Update

This past week, Christmas had 27 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Winnus and then tallied 42 (FORTY-TWO!) points and 11 boards in an overtime win over Hanabank. In the latter victory, Christmas made 16-of-29 shots and went 9-for-11 from the free throw line. For her efforts, Christmas was named Asia-basket.com Player of the Week and was also an easy choice for our first-ever #FeverOverseas Player of the Week award, a new weekly feature here at FeverBasketball.com.

Elsewhere, Natasha Howard’s Elitzur Ramla squad has reeled off three straight wins in Israel to surge into second place in the domestic league standings. Howard has averaged 16 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists over the last three games.

In France, Maggie Lucas has cooled off a bit since her hot start to the season, but her Arras club won both of its last two games. Lucas still ranks second in scoring in Ligue Féminine de Basketball, averaging 18.6 points per game.

In Turkey, Briann January and Erlana Larkins’ Adana ASKI team split a pair of games over the holidays. January scored 23 points to lead Adana to an 84-78 win over Besiktas on Dec. 21. Adana fell to defending champions Galatasaray on Jan. 3, but Larkins had 20 points and eight rebounds and January added 14 points in the loss.

After missing two games, Marissa Coleman returned to Edirne’s lineup on Jan. 4, scoring 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds in a 70-66 win over Orduspor. Lynetta Kizer is averaging 13.1 points per game for Hatay, but her club dropped its last two games to fall to 1-9 on the year.

Several Fever players rank among the league leaders in the TKBL. Coleman is tied for third in scoring (17.8 points per game) and seventh in steals (2.1 per night). January is 10th in scoring (14.5 points per game) and Larkins is fourth in rebounding (10.2 boards per contest).
