Storylines & Promotion
• The Fever look to set a new franchise record with their fourth consecutive road victory in Friday’s matchup with the Seattle Storm. Indiana has matched its franchise record of three straight road wins twice this season, and 11 times overall.
• The Fever enter Friday’s contest as one of the hottest teams in the WNBA. Indiana has won four straight overall, 7 of 8 and 12 of 15 since beginning the year 3-6. Fever coach Stephanie White has positioned herself as a top candidate for the WNBA’s Coach of the Year award, guiding a team without a recognized MVP candidate and utilizing eight different starting lineups due to injuries and absences.
• During the team’s current four-game winning streak, the Fever have averaged 83.3 points per game while holding opponents to 67.5 points per game. Indiana has shot 42.4 percent from the field and 90.9 percent from the foul line over that span.
• Indiana won at Los Angeles for the first time since 2010, snapping its seven-game losing streak in the series.
• With a 7-5 record away from home this season, Indiana needs two road wins to tie the franchise record for most road victories in a season (2006, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014).
• The Fever have sole possession of second place in the Eastern Conference. Indiana returns home to host the first place New York Liberty on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 6:00 p.m. The contest marks the first of three consecutive home games for the Fever.
• Tamika Catchings moved into second place on the WNBA’s career rebounding list in the victory at Phoenix. In addition, Briann January moved past Tammy Sutton-Brown into third place on Indiana’s career scoring list.
• The Fever bench has outscored its opponents in 13 of their 15 wins this season and 18 of 24 games overall. Indiana currently leads the WNBA in bench scoring.
• Friday’s game pits the WNBA’s top two rookie scorers, Seattle’s Jewell Loyd and Indiana’s Natalie Achonwa, who also were Notre Dame teammates from 2011-14. Achonwa was a first-round draft pick of the Fever in 2014 despite an ACL injury that forced her to miss last season. Loyd was the league’s top draft pick in 2015.
