Storylines & Promotion

  • After falling 84-67 in Game 1 Wednesday at New York, the Indiana Fever face elimination again as the series moves to Indianapolis for Game 2 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
  • With back-to-back victories over Chicago in Games 2 and 3, the Fever have now won six of their past eight playoff elimination games. Overall, Indiana is 13-9 all-time in elimination contests, including a 9-2 record at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
  • Stephanie White is the fourth rookie head coach (a first-year head coach with no previous college or pro experience as a head coach) to advance to the WNBA conference finals. There have been three previous rookie head coaches to reach the conference finals: Dan Hughes (Charlotte, 1999); Michael Cooper (Los Angeles, 2000) and Rick Mahorn (Detroit, 2009).
  • White is trying to become the FIRST rookie head coach to reach the WNBA Finals. The last time any first-year WNBA head coach reached the WNBA Finals was Richie Adubato (New York, 1999), who spent several years as an NBA head coach.

Eastern Conference Finals Recap
(Game 1, September 23, 2015) NEW YORK – The New York Liberty took early control of the Eastern Conference Finals as they locked down the Indiana offense in the second half to run away with an 84-67 Game 1 victory at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night. After cutting an early nine-point deficit to 42-48 heading into halftime, the Fever managed just seven third-quarter points on 2-for-16 shooting (12.5 percent), while the Liberty bolted ahead on a 23-8 run to take a commanding 22-point lead and push Indiana on the brink of elimination once again. Rookie Kiah Stokes paced New York with a game-high 21 points off the bench, while All-Star forward Tina Charles finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and a career-best nine assists. Shenise Johnson led Indiana as the only Fever player in double figures with 12 points.

Series
The Fever finished the regular season 4-1 against the Liberty, including three victories at home. Indiana won each of the last four matchups this season, including an 80-63 victory at Madison Square Garden on June 19. New York has lost seven consecutive road games to the Fever dating back to the 2013 regular season. The Fever and Liberty have met four times in the postseason prior to this season with each team splitting a 2-2 record in those series. The last time these two teams met in the playoffs, Indiana earned a 72-62 victory in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals to escape the first round.
