Storylines & Promotions
- Indiana (0-2) and New York (1-1) are set to tip off for the teams’ 57th matchup this Tuesday evening at Madison Square Garden.
- The Fever are 0-2 after back-to-back games against Chicago and Minnesota. Indiana reduced its turnovers from 20 against Chicago in the season opener to 12 against Minnesota. They held Minnesota to 38.7 percent field goal shooting after Chicago recorded a 46.2 mark. The Fever also improved their shooting to 42.4 percent against the Lynx, from 39.4 at Chicago.
- Stephanie White is still seeking her first win as head coach of the Fever.
- The team is playing without veteran Tamika Catchings (right knee) who remains questionable for Tuesday’s game at New York. Center Erlana Larkins has also been limited by injury (right knee) in the early season and saw eight minutes of action against Minnesota. Rookie Natalie Achonwa, after sitting out last season following knee surgery, is seeing plenty of action thus far. She recorded 10 points and six rebounds at Chicago and finished with 14 points and five boards in her first career start against the Lynx.
- The Fever showed stretches of offensive and defensive dominance in the fourth quarter of the Minnesota game. The team went on a 7-0 run in the fourth, led by Shenise Johnson’s five points in that stretch. Nine of Johnson’s 14 points came in the final quarter of play. Indiana also managed to hold the Lynx without a field goal for 5:30 in the fourth.
- Marissa Coleman has finished each of the Fever’s two games with a team-high in points and minutes. Against the Sky, she recorded 18 points in 29:26 minutes of play, and versus the Lynx she played 29:55, scoring 16.
- Each of Indiana’s two losses have come at the hands of dominant teams from 2014. Chicago reached its first WNBA Finals a year ago, while Minnesota has been to the WNBA Finals three of the past four years.
- The Indiana Fever and their fans set a Guinness World Record® during their home opener with Minnesota on Saturday, successfully lighting 3,712 glowsticks, simultaneously, just before tipoff.

Last Meeting
August 2014 marks the last time these two teams met, with New York defeating Indiana 73-61 at Madison Square Garden. It was a game that ended both teams’ regular seasons. The Liberty led from the beginning and when Indiana pulled to within four points with 6:31 left, they went on a 6-0 run to seal the win. Plenette Pierson’s 15 points wasn’t enough to propel the Liberty into the postseason for the second straight year. Indiana, however, had the second seed in the playoffs clinched already. The Fever rested star Tamika Catchings along with starters Erlana Larkins and Briann January. Coming off the bench, then-rookie Maggie Lucas scored a season-high 17 points, along with four assists to lead the Fever. Shavonte Zellous added 11 points in the loss.
