The Indiana Fever open the second half of their season in Dallas when they play the Wings for a third and final time.
The Fever conclude their longest road swing of the season, Tuesday in Dallas. A Fever victory will complete the four-game swing at 2-2, and help the Fever keep pace in league standings. The Fever have made a WNBA-record 12 straight postseasons and are currently 10th in the league, just 1.5 games behind Dallas, Seattle, and Atlanta in seventh.
Storylines & Promotion
• The Fever lost 85-61 in San Antonio last Thursday in the league’s final game before the break. Tiffany Mitchell led the Fever with 13 points off the bench, and Candice Dupree had nine points and six rebounds before making her sixth All-Star appearance on Saturday.
• Indiana continues to excel at the free throw line, with an 85.9 percent success rate that would set a new franchise record if it holds.
• The Fever have proven to be good finishers this season, with a 5-0 record when they hold a lead after three quarters.
• The Wings lost to the Minnesota Lynx, 100-74 before the All-Star Break, last Wednesday. Skylar Diggins-Smith contributed 23 points and nine assists to lead Dallas. Glory Johnson added 16 points and eight rebounds.
• Dallas owns the lowest field goal percentage in the WNBA, with a 40.5 percent success rate. The Fever shoot 42.9 percent from the field, good for seventh.
• The last time Indiana and Dallas met, the Fever earned a six-point victory at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, just days after falling to the Wings by 27 points in Dallas.
• Tuesday’s game isn’t likely to feature a lot of 3-point shooting, as Indiana is 10th in the WNBA with a 29.3 percent conversion rate, with Dallas in 11th with a 29.2 percent mark.
• Marissa Coleman is 19 points shy of 2,000 points in her WNBA career. She currently has 1,981.
• Karima Christmas-Kelly played three seasons with the Fever, helping Indiana to a title in 2012. Dallas rookies Allisha Gray and Kaela Davis were college teammates with Tiffany Mitchell at South Carolina. Dallas assistant coach Bridget Pettis is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, playing her high school ball in East Chicago, Ind., and later starring with the Fever in 2002 and 2003.
• The Fever are 30-23 all-time against Dallas, with the two teams splitting a pair of games earlier this season. Dallas won at College Park Center on May 30, and Indiana claimed a June 3 home game. The Fever will be playing for just the third time in College Park Center, where they are 1-1.
