The WNBA All-Star Game will be in Seattle on July 22, and the Fever will be represented in the game by Candice Dupree. The veteran forward is making her sixth All-Star appearance, her first with Indiana. Selected as a reserve by Eastern Conference coaches, Dupree is averaging 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
The Fever hope to salvage a win against Phoenix after losing twice to the Mercury in 2017. Indiana absorbed an 85-62 loss at Talking Stick Resort Arena on May 17.
Storylines & Promotion
• The Fever earned their third road win with a 84-77 victory over the Phoenix Mercury, Wednesday afternoon. Erica Wheeler scored 20 points and dished seven assists to pace the Fever. Dupree added 17 points as the Fever shot 51.7 percent from the field and limited Phoenix to a 36.8 percent mark.
• Indiana shot over 50 percent for the third time this season, and held its opponent under 40 percent shooting for the third time, also.
• With a one-point deficit coming out of halftime, Wheeler elevated her play in the second half, scoring 15 of her 20 points after the break.
• Arizona State grad Briann January played a strong all-around game near her college campus, posting seven points, seven assists, and tying her career high with seven rebounds.
• Jennifer Hamson, recently extended on a second 7-day contract, scored her first points in a Fever uniform. She had a pair of three-point plays on baseline jumpers and finished with a season-high nine points.
• The Stars fell 88-75 to the Atlanta Dream, Tuesday night. Isabelle Harrison led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds. Sequoia Holmes added 13 points off the bench. The Stars outshot Atlanta from the field but 16 turnovers were costly.
• When Indiana shoots well, it does well: the Fever are 5-0 when they record a higher field goal percentage than their opponent.
• Marissa Coleman is 19 points shy of 2,000 in her WNBA career. She currently has 1,981.
• Jazmon Gwathmey was acquired in a trade from San Antonio on May 9 after spending her rookie season with the Stars. San Antonio’s Shay Murphy spent the 2009 season with the Fever, helping Indiana all the way to the WNBA Finals.
• The Fever are 18-16 all-time against the Stars. San Antonio won the only matchup thus far this season, with a 79-72 win last Wednesday, but Indiana has won six of the past seven in San Antonio. They hold a 10-3 record all-time in the AT&T Center.
