Fever Complete Comeback Against Chicago Sky
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever erased a 10-point fourth quarter deficit, outscored the Chicago Sky 20-9 in the final quarter and held on for a 79-75 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to open up its 2022 preseason schedule.
Rookie Queen Egbo led all players with a game-high 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds off the bench to help Indiana knock off the 2021 WNBA champions. Destanni Henderson added 11 points, shooting 4-of-4 from the court and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. Rookie forward NaLyssa Smith finished with 10 points and nine rebounds in her first career starting nod.
Emily Engstler and Erin Whalen also came off the bench for the Fever to add nine and eight points each.
In all, Fever rookies accounted for 54 of the team’s 79 points Saturday night.
Kelsey Mitchell began her fifth season with the Fever finishing with 12 points and a game-high five assists.
For Chicago, Emma Meeseman led the Sky with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Dana Evans finished with 12 points and tied a team-high with three assists.
ROSTER UPDATE
Following the conclusion of Saturday night’s preseason game, the Fever waived guard Jazmine Jones and forward Jaime Nared.
