Indiana Fever forward Natalie Achonwa, recipient of the 2020 Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award, in partnership with the Madam Walker Legacy Center, announced today four grant award winners to Hoosier women in business.

Natalie Achonwa started 11 of 18 games played for the Indiana Fever during the 2020 season. Achonwa’s impact on the court was matched as one of the league’s key voices off the court regarding social justice issues.

The WNBA and the Indiana Fever today announced that Fever player Natalie Achonwa has been recognized as the recipient of the 2020 Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award.

Fifth-year Indiana Fever center Natalie Achonwa will join Irish greats Ruth Riley-Hunter, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Niele Ivey, Beth (Morgan) Cunningham and Kayla McBride when she becomes the sixth player to join Notre Dame’s prestigious Ring of Honor.

Natalie Achonwa played in 30 games with 18 starts for the Fever. Entering the season, Achonwa was exactly 100 points shy of 1,000 for her career and on June 23rd, she officially joined the 1,000 point club.

Indiana Fever center Natalie Achonwa has earned the Seasonlong WNBA Community Assist Award presented by State Farm in recognition of her commitment and dedication to giving back to the community.   

Natalie Achonwa appeared in all 34 of Indiana's games this season, starting 17 and played a career high 18.3 minutes per game. She averaged 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds (career high) per game, while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Achonwa appeared in 24 games this season and averaged 3.6 points and two rebounds in 8.1 minutes per game. She shot 54.5 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line.
