Tamika Catchings will receive the Musial Award for Extraordinary Character at a Nov. 19 ceremony in St. Louis. Hosted annually at the Peabody Opera House in Downtown St. Louis, the Musial Awards – presented by Maryville University – celebrate the year’s greatest moments of sportsmanship and the biggest names in sports who exemplify class and character.

Former WNBA MVP Tamika Catchings had been named a recipient of the 2016 Pathfinder Award. This award honors individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of America's youth.

Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever is the recipient of the Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award in recognition of her exceptional work in the community in 2015, the league announced today. This marks the second Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award for Catchings, who is playing in her final season, after receiving the inaugural award in 2007.

More than 1,500 students from across Indianapolis traveled to Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Thursday morning to attend the Indiana Fever’s Choices for Champions event presented by Community Health Network. The annual event encourages 4th to 8th grade students to make positive and healthy life choices, with an emphasis on putting an end to bullying.

As part of the Indiana Fever ‘s Read Like a Pro initiative and the Indianapolis Public Library’s Call-The-Fever program, Fever players Marissa Coleman, Briann January, Maggie Lucas and Jeanette Pohlen attended the Indianapolis Public Library's Central Branch in downtown Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon to read with third graders from Charles W. Fairbanks Elementary School.

In conjunction with Community Health Network, the Indiana Fever will host their annual Choices for Champions educational program on Thursday, Aug. 18, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Students ranging from 4th to 8th grade will visit Bankers Life Fieldhouse to participate in an educational opportunity centered around anti-bullying and healthy lifestyle choices, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Through the Fever’s Read Like a Pro initiative you can hear your very own Indiana Fever players reading a book through the Call-The-Fever program presented by Old National Bank with the Indianapolis Public Library.

The Children’s Bureau is collecting donation items at the Fever vs. Sparks game on Tuesday, July 19. These items help support their initiatives in the local community and state. Your donation will help Children’s Bureau resource families and children in-need.

Indiana Fever community relations director Bobbi Courtright led children from Indianapolis’ westside in a Get Fever Fit basketball clinic. The clinic was the first event to take place on the newly renovated Christina Oaks Park basketball court.
