Fever Trade for 6-2 Shooting Guard Jazmon Gwathmey

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever have executed a trade with the San Antonio Stars, bringing second-year guard Jazmon Gwathmey to Indiana, in exchange for a third-round draft pick in 2018.

A 6-2 guard out of James Madison, Gwathmey played 22 games with the Stars last season, making 10 starts. She averaged 3.3 points per game as a rookie, with a season-high 16 points in her first start at Washington last August. She played overseas in Australia last winter, averaging 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds.

Gwathmey was the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year as a college senior in 2016, and was a three-time CAA Tournament most outstanding player. She was selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the second pick of the second round (14th overall) in last season’s WNBA Draft, but had her rights traded to San Antonio on draft night.

Indiana’s 2017 roster must be finalized by Friday, May 12 at 5:00 p.m.

Indiana continues preparation for its 18th summer basketball campaign. The Fever open the regular season with a pair of West Coast road games at Seattle (May 14) and Phoenix (May 17), prior to a Saturday, May 20 home opener against the Connecticut Sun (7:00 p.m.).
