Storylines & Promotion

  • The Indiana Fever (17-11) have now lost two consecutive games for the first time since before the All-Star break, July 17-21, after falling 84-90 Friday night to the Atlanta Dream at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
  • Indiana looks to clinch its first winning record during the regular season for the first time since the 2012 campaign Sunday afternoon in Tulsa. With six games to play, the Fever are five wins away from tying the franchise record for most wins in a season (2009, 2012).
  • With Indiana’s next victory, head coach Stephanie White will set the record for the most regular season wins by a first-year head coach in Fever franchise history. Lin Dunn went 17-17 in her first season as head coach in the 2008 season.
  • White is three wins away from becoming the third rookie head coach in WNBA history to record at least 20 wins in his or her first year. Michael Cooper set the record with 28 wins during his first year as head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks in 2000.
  • Indiana’s defeat on Friday night was only the second loss this season and first at home in which the Fever lost when leading after three quarters. Indiana is now 15-2 this season with the lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • The Fever are now 0-4 this season when allowing 90 or more points and 2-9 when yielding 80 or more, including each of the last two games.
  • Layshia Clarendon is coming off a performance Friday night in which she set a new career high with 17 points on 8-for-16 shooting.
  • Briann January exited Friday’s contest against Atlanta in the second quarter. She did not travel to Tulsa. January is out for Sunday (left knee) and listed as day-to-day going forward.

Tulsa pulled within 79-78 – the closest the Shock had been since it was 2-2– on Karima Christmas’ two free throws with 2:14 remaining. After the teams traded baskets, Indiana’s Marissa Coleman hit the first of two free throws with 10.9 seconds left. Tamika Catchings, who finished with 11 points, grabbed the offensive rebound and then made 1-of-2 free throws with 7.1 seconds left. Tulsa’s Riquna Williams missed a 3-pointer from the wing with just seconds left.

Last Games
Fever: (August 28, 2015) The Fever raced out to an early lead and built their advantage to as many as 12 points before halftime; but thanks in part to a 31-for-36 performance at the foul line, the Atlanta Dream slowly chipped away at the deficit and took control midway through the fourth quarter on their way to a 90-84 victory at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Dream forced 19 Indiana turnovers on the night that turned into 24 points on the other end. The loss marked the first time Indiana lost consecutive games in over a month and the first loss at home while leading after three quarters. Tamika Catchings led Indiana with 24 points and seven rebounds while Layshia Clarendon set a new career high with 17 points. Tiffany Hayes finished with a career-best 28-point effort for Atlanta.

Shock: (August 28, 2015) Riquna Williams buried a triple with 57.9 seconds remaining to give the Shock the distance they needed as Tulsa hung on for a 76-66 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night. The Shock limited the Sparks, winners of three consecutive road games, to just 13 points in the final quarter. Williams and Odyssey Sims led the way with 15 points apiece while Courtney Paris added a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double in the victory.

Series
Since the Shock moved to Tulsa before the 2010 WNBA season, Indiana has posted a 9-2 record in the series, including four consecutive victories and a 4-1 overall mark at Tulsa. Indiana leads 27-20 over the Detroit/Tulsa Shock in the overall series dating back to the 2000 season.
