INDIANAPOLIS – Lindsay Allen and Teaira McCowan checked in for the Fever with 4:55 remaining in the opening quarter of Saturday’s matinée against the Chicago Sky. The two combined for 11 of the team’s 27 points without missing a shot in Indiana’s highest scoring first quarter of the season.

The two propelled the Fever bench to its highest point total of the season, combining for 44 points, as Indiana dropped the second game of the season to the Chicago Sky, 83-79.

Allen’s 12 points set a new career-high for the fourth year guard from Notre Dame. Her six assists set a new season-best and added to her league-leading assist-to-turnover ratio currently at 29 assists to only five turnovers after Saturday.

McCowan reached the 20-point plateau for the first time since her 22-point effort at New York to open the 2021 regular season. She pulled down 11 of her team-high 13 rebounds in the second half for her 21st career double-double. The third year center battled Candace Parker inside all game, matching Parker’s 20 points, as the newly added veteran presence for the Sky moved ahead of Dawn Staley for 13th all-time in career assists.

Second-year forward Lauren Cox matched a career-best seven points, while rookie guard Kysre Gondrezick’s accretive defensive abilities shined with a game-high three steals to set a new career-high.

Kelsey and Tiffany Mitchell both earned a starting nod to add 16 and 10 points each. Kelsey Mitchell’s team-leading scoring average this season increased again with her ninth game of the season scoring in double figures.

Jessica Breland pulled down five of her six rebounds in the first half to surpass 1,500 for her career, making her the 47th player in WNBA history to reach the milestone.

Chicago’s bench was led by Allie Quigley’s 16 points, while Kahleah Copper added 14 points in a starting role for the Sky, who are now riding a season-best two-game winning streak.
