INDIANAPOLIS – After getting her first start of the 2021 season, Fever forward Jessica Breland hauled in a career-high 16 rebounds in Friday night’s loss to the Atlanta Dream, 83-79. Breland ended the night with 1,450 rebounds for her career, which still has her in the top 50 in WNBA history. Her season-best 15 points secured her 23rd career double-double performance as well.

Fever center Teaira McCowan also made history on the glass Friday night as well. McCowan became the eighth player in WNBA history to reach 500 rebounds in their first 60 career games. The 60 games also made McCowan the fastest in franchise history to reach the rebounding plateau, which was previously held by current VP of Basketball Operations and General Manager, Tamika Catchings. The newest Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame inductee reached 500 rebounds in 61 career games.

The Fever found bright spots off the bench in rookies Bernadett Hatar and Kysre Gondrezick. In Hatar’s second game, the 6-foot-10 Hungarian center notched a new career-best 12 points in just under 21 minutes of action. Gondrezick ended her night 3-of-3 from the floor and added eight points to go along with three rebounds.

Tiffany Mitchell was also inserted into the starting lineup and dished out a season-best six assists. The 20 assists distributed as a team were a new season-high for the Fever.

Kelsey Mitchell led all Fever scorers again with 19 points on 7-of-18 shooting. Mitchell is currently third in points per game (16.8 ppg) for players who have played at least four games already this season.

For Atlanta, second-year guard Chennedy Carter led all scorers with 23 points and tied a team-best four assists. Courtney Williams and Tiffany Hayes each added 16 and 14 points each as the Dream tallied its first win of the 2021 regular season.
