Injury Report
Indiana Fever guard Shenise Johnson (left knee ACL rehabilitation) remains out and will not play in Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
The Indiana Fever look for their first win as they welcome the 1-0 Los Angeles Sparks into Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Tuesday evening. The Sparks defeated the Minnesota Lynx 77-76 on Sunday evening, while the Fever fell at Washington, 82-75. Odyssey Sims, one of the league’s top scorers, finished with 21 points and six rebounds for the Sparks. Natalie Achnowa led the way for Indiana with career highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds, and rookie Kelsey Mitchell added 16 points off the bench.
Storylines & Promotion
• Indiana Fever rookie Kelsey Mitchell dropped 16 points and accumulated two assists, rebounds, and steals in her second game in a Fever jersey. Mitchell played 26 minutes in the contest against the Mystics which was the third most on the team, following Dupree (32) and Wheeler (29).
• Natalie Achonwa set career highs with 21 points and 12 rebounds on Sunday evening, besting prior highs of 19 points (vs. New York) and nine boards (at Atlanta) last season.
• Candice Dupree had 13 points and 10 boards, recording the 65th double-double of her 13-year career.
• Indiana had a strong rebounding performance against Washington with Achonwa and Dupree grabbing most of those rebounds. Indiana outrebounded the Mystics 39-27, which was Indiana’s largest rebound margin in two years.
• Former Baylor star Odyssey Sims, in her second year with Los Angeles after playing for Dallas in 2016, is tied with Brittney Griner as the league’s No. 4 scorer on opening weekend. She led the Sparks with 21 points in their win over Minnesota.
• Los Angeles leads the series 24-11 overall and 9-8 with games played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Sparks have won two of three games in the series each of the past two seasons, however the Fever have one two of the past three meetings at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
• Shenise Johnson continues to be inactive until later this season with an ACL injury.
