The Indiana Fever travel to Chicago Friday night for their second game in six days against the Sky. Indiana sits at 4-5 on the season following an 88-78 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday. Chicago’s victory over the New York Liberty, Wednesday night, moved the team’s record to 5-2. The Sky enter Friday’s matchup with the Fever on a four-game winning streak.

Candice Dupree’s 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting led the way for Indiana in its loss to the Dream. All five of the Fever’s starters scored at least nine points and four finished in double figures. Teaira McCowan’s first pro start featured 14 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots. Courtney Vandersloot posted a game-high 25 points, team-high six assists and tied for the team lead with eight rebounds in the Sky’s win against New York. Cheyenne Parker contributed 13 points off the bench.

NOTES

  • The Sky defeated the Fever at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in the first meeting between the teams on June 15, 70-64. Allie Quigley scored a game-high 18 points in the victory.
  • The road team has won the last seven times Indiana and Chicago have played. The Fever have won four straight in Chicago.
  • With her team-high 19 points on Wednesday, Candice Dupree (6,168) passed Sue Bird (6,154) for seventh on the WNBA all-time scoring list. She is 95 point shy of Lisa Leslie (6,263) in sixth.
  • Rookie Teaira McCowan made the first start of her WNBA career against the Dream. She recorded her first double-double, finishing with 14 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks.
  • McCowan’s 15 rebounds tied a franchise rookie record set by Tamika Catchings in 2002. Her nine offensive rebounds were one shy of tying the single-game franchise record.
  • Erica Wheeler has recorded at least five assists in seven of Indiana’s nine games this season. Wheeler’s 5.9 assists per game are second in the WNBA, trailing only Chicago’s Courtney Vandersloot (8.0).
  • Natalie Achonwa (seven) and Tiffany Mitchell (17) are both within 20 points of reaching 1,000 for their career. Achonwa and Mitchell have spent their entire careers with the Fever.
  • Kelsey Mitchell went 4-of-11 from beyond the arc on Wednesday. It was the fourth time in the last seven games Mitchell made at least four 3-pointers. Mitchell’s scored at least 14 points in seven straight contests.
  • A win over Chicago would give Indiana a .500 record or better through its first 10 games for the first time since 2014. The team reached the Eastern Conference Finals that season.
