INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever signed free agent forward, Alisia Jenkins, to a contract today. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
“We are glad to bring in Alisia to join our team because of her rebounding and defensive abilities,” Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Tamika Catchings said. “She will be a great asset to our team because of the intensity she plays with on both ends of the floor.”
The 6-foot-1 forward most recently played with TFSE-MTK in the Hungary A-Division. In 20 games, she averaged a league-best 22.4 points and 12.3 rebounds, as well as 2.6 steals and 2.3 assists per game. She was voted the All-Hungarian League Defensive Player of the Year and won Hungarian A Division Player of the Week twice this past season.
Jenkins played collegiately at the University of South Florida from 2012-16. Jenkins’ name is cemented atop the USF record books, most notably as the school’s all-time leading rebounder with 1,284 rebounds. Jenkins is third all-time in blocks with 159 and is the 14th all-time leading scorer for the Bulls with 1,282 points. She started 119 of 132 games played with South Florida.
The team also announced guard Victoria Vivians will be out indefinitely due to a right knee injury. Vivians is currently not with the team in Bradenton and meeting with medical experts. She last played on August 11 against Las Vegas.
The Fever play tomorrow at 7 p.m. against the Connecticut Sun. Tuesday’s game will be streamed on FeverBasketball.com, the Indiana Fever’s Facebook page and via the Fever app.
