VIDEO: New Assistant Coaches In Town, Ready to Get to Work
Gail Goestenkors and Gary Kloppenburg are ready to get to work. The Fever’s two new assistant coaches were at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Tuesday and took a little time out of their busy schedules to shoot video interviews with FeverBasketball.com.
In the video above, Kloppenburg discusses returning to Indiana, where he was an assistant on Lin Dunn’s staff from 2007-11. Kloppenburg worked with new Fever head coach Stephanie White on Dunn’s staff during the 2011 season, served as head coach of the Tulsa Shock from 2012-13, and spent last season on the Los Angeles Sparks staff with Goestenkors.
In the video below, Goestenkors talks about joining the staff in Indiana, her extensive head coaching experience at the college level, and transitioning to coaching in the WNBA. Goestenkors is another branch of the extensive Lin Dunn coaching tree, having served as an assistant at Purdue from 1987-1992. Goestenkors is scheduled to be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame this summer.
The Fever coaching staff is busy preparing for free agency and scouting for the 2014 WNBA Draft (the Fever own the sixth overall selection in the 2015 Draft). Stay tuned to FeverBasketball.com for all the latest Fever news and information.
