Fever Add Miss Indiana’s 1988 Basketball Vicki Hall to Coaching Staff

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever announced today former Fever player Vicki Hall has been named an assistant coach.

“We are excited to add former WNBA player and an Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Vicki Hall, to our coaching staff,” Fever Head Coach Marianne Stanley said. “Vicki’s passion for the game is off the charts and I know she will be a tremendous asset to our Fever team. We are fortunate to have someone with Vicki’s wealth of experience, as both a player and a coach, join us in building our championship culture here in Indiana.”

On top of winning the 1988 Naismith and Gatorade Player of the Year awards, the Indianapolis native was the 1988 Miss Basketball in Indiana after a stellar high school career at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School.

She also played in 13 games during the 2001 season with the Fever.

“This is such an exciting day for me to come back to Indianapolis and continue my coaching career as a part of Coach Stanley’s staff,” Hall said. “I am so grateful to be back in the city that created my love for the game and I will do everything I can to help bring a championship back to Indy.”

Hall comes home after a three-year stint as the head coach at Indiana State. Prior to her tenure in Terre Haute, Hall was the Associate Head Coach at Toledo from 2012-18. She also was an assistant coach at New Mexico during the 2011-12 season and Miami (Ohio) in 2009-11.

As a player, Hall spent three years in the WNBA from 2000-02 with the Fever, Cleveland Rockers and Los Angeles Sparks. Her playing career spanned 16 seasons from the international level playing in France, Greece, Israel, Italy and Turkey from 1993-09. She also played two years in the ABL with the Colorado Xplosion and Nashville Noise.

Hall’s college career with the Texas Longhorns featured three first team All-Southwest Conference selections and four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances from 1988-93. The Longhorns compiled an overall record of 118-37 with a 69-7 mark in Southwest Conference play during her time in Austin. She was named to the Southwest Conference All-Decade Team for the 1990s and was inducted into the Hall of Honor at Texas in 2018.

Hall won the 1990 World Championship as a member of the U.S. National Team and also was a part of the first Women’s Junior World Championship Qualifying Team in 1988.

Hall was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.
