Four Players Finish In Double Figures, Fever Fall to the Sky, 87-76
BRADENTON, Fla. – With eight players active for the second consecutive game, half of the Fever team ended the night with at least 10 points in Saturday’s 87-76 loss to the Chicago Sky. The two teams will meet again on Thursday to round out the regular season series.
Indiana outscored Chicago 64-60 after the first quarter on Saturday night. Chicago went 11-of-20 from the floor in the opening quarter behind 10 points from Courtney Vandersloot, who ended the night with 23 points and nine assists.
Candice Dupree led the Fever with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting against the current eastern conference leaders. Kelsey Mitchell poured in 16 points to go along with tying a season-best five assists.
Julie Allemand joined Mitchell today as the only Fever players to play all 40 minutes during a game this season. Allemand chipped in 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Mitchell played her 40-minute game on August 7 against Minnesota.
Natalie Achonwa continues to work herself back to full strength after missing four games with a hamstring injury earlier this season. Achonwa came off the bench and tallied a season-high 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting and four rebounds. Saturday night was the sixth time in franchise history a player made at least six shots in a game without missing an attempt.
Achonwa is averaging 14.5 points and 5.0 rebounds the last two games.
For Chicago, Kahleah Copper’s career-high 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting led the Sky to its 10th win this season. Allie Quigley added 15 points in more than 35 minutes on Saturday night.
