INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever fell to the Washington Mystics, 87-75, at Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Tuesday night. The Mystics took the second game of the four-game regular-season series to improve to 7-3, while Indiana heads into the second game of a back-to-back at 3-8.

Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell led all Indiana scorers with 26 points, her third straight game with at least 20 points and the seventh of the season. This week’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week also reached 300 made 3-point field goals in her career on Tuesday night. Fever forward NaLyssa Smith started off with 11 points in the first half, but two quick fouls coming out of halftime limited her to finish with 13 points on the night. Victoria Vivians had her sixth straight game finishing in double figures, capping her night with 11 points.

For the Mystics, Ariel Atkins scored 21 of her season-high 28 points in the second half. Elena Delle Donne added 19 points and seven rebounds, extending her double-digit scoring streak to seven games. Natasha Cloud contributed 16 points and nine assists, and Elizabeth Williams logged a career-high 15 rebounds and a season-high six blocks off the bench.

Indiana started the game on a 13-2 run, but after being down 17-11, the Mystics went on a 10-2 run of their own to help cut the deficit to 23-22 after the first quarter.

To begin the second half, Washington connected on its first four shots to trail 50-49 at the 7:28 mark. The Mystics defense was tough to match in the third quarter holding Indiana to 5-of-20 shooting out of the half.

Atkins scored 11 points in the fourth quarter alone and Washington shot 61 percent from the floor in the final 10 minutes to seal the victory.

The Fever now shift to a stretch of three straight road games beginning at the Barclays Center against the New York Liberty on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. ET. The Fever pulled out a 92-86 road win in overtime in the teams’ first meeting back on May 13. The Fever set a new record for total rebounds in the win with 57 rebounds, led by NaLyssa Smith’s 17 boards and Queen Egbo’s 14.

For New York this season, the Liberty have dropped seven games in a row after winning a nailbiter in its season opener against the Connecticut Sun. Their most recent loss was a 92-61 defeat in Seattle. Han Xu led the Liberty with 13 points, followed by Natasha Howard with 10. Xu has scored at least 10 points in each of the four games she has played this season.
