Storylines & Promotion
• Following five games in eight days last week, the Fever are settled into a stretch with just two games in 13 days. Five of the Fever’s first seven games are at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
• Friday’s game against Dallas begins a stretch of five games in nine days for Indiana, playing every other day between Friday and next Saturday.
• Kelsey Mitchell’s 26 points against New York were a career high and included five 3-point field goals for the second time in three games. Tenth in the league in scoring (18.3ppg) and averaging a league-best 3.3 3-pointers per game, Mitchell is on pace to challenge Tamika Catchings’ Fever and WNBA-record 76 rookie 3-pointers in 2002.
• Candice Dupree scored 16 points with eight rebounds for the Fever last Saturday night. She added 12 points and five rebounds in the second half and overtime versus the Liberty.
• Four-of-five Fever starters were in double figures last Saturday with Natalie Achonwa adding eight points and five boards.
• Erica Wheeler is now eighth in franchise history in career assists (262) after dishing seven against the Liberty, passing Rita Williams (255). She needs just four to move into seventh past Ebony Hoffman (265). Wheeler averages 4.8 assists per game, fourth in the WNBA and on pace to beat her franchise-record 4.1 average from last season.
• Tiffany Mitchell finished with 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting against the Liberty. She has been in double figures in four of the team’s six games.
• The Wings shot over 50 percent from the field, 32-of-63, against the Storm Saturday night. Skylar Diggins-Smith leading the team with 27 points and Liz Cambage following her with 25 points.
• Dallas’ Liz Cambage, a 6-8 Australian center who re-entered the league this season, was named WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week alongside Tina Charles of the New York Liberty for the Eastern Conference. Cambage has been Player of the Week three times throughout her career, this time being the first since 2013.
• Fever forward Candice Dupree has been ruled out of Friday’s game with a left knee injury.
• Expected to start in Dupree’s absence against Dallas, Erica McCall’s last career start came at Connecticut last year when Dupree was absent after the birth of twins. McCall had a career-high nine rebounds that was matched last week.
• Without Dupree and already-injured Shenise Johnson (left ACL rehab) in the lineup on Friday, the average age of Indiana’s rookie-led active roster dips to 23.9 years of age, making Kayla Alexander and Erica Wheeler the most veteran players on the team at 27.
