Fever Take to the Road to Face the Connecticut Sun
The Indiana Fever face off with a recently unfriendly opponent on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. Nine of the last 10 meetings against Connecticut have resulted in wins for the Sun, including both wins in the condensed 2020 regular season in Bradenton, Fla. This will be the only trip to Uncasville for the Fever this year as the Sun will return to Indianapolis for two games in early July against the Fever.
The last win for Indiana against Connecticut in 2019 was highlighted by a franchise regular-season scoring record from Kelsey Mitchell with 38 points and a league best nine made 3-point field goals in the season finale.
Connecticut sits at 2-0 this season after a pair of wins at Atlanta and at home against Phoenix to start off its 2021 campaign. Forwards DeWanna Bonner and Jonquel Jones are both averaging at least 20 points per game this season. Jones will square off with Teaira McCowan inside, who are both currently averaging a double-double with points and rebounds.
Wednesday will be the third consecutive Commissioner’s Cup game played for the Fever this season. “Cup games” will be the first home game and first road game each team plays against its five conference rivals, all set to take place in the first half of the season between Friday, May 14, and Sunday, July 11. The team from each conference with the highest winning percentage in “Cup games” will earn a berth to the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game on Aug. 12.
