Storylines & Promotion
• The Fever are unbeaten since the All-Star Break, winning three of their past five games overall. Indiana’s two-game win streak is its first since June 15 and 18, 2017, at home against Atlanta and at Chicago. Indiana’s last three-game win streak was in September 2016.
• Despite 37 points from Dallas center Liz Cambage, the third-most ever scored by a Fever opponent, the Fever outlasted the Wings 84-78 on Thursday night to capture their elusive fourth win of the season. Six Indiana players reached double-figure scoring for the first time since July 10, 2016, with Cappie Pondexter leading the way with a season-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. Indiana got 29 points while forcing 21 Dallas turnovers, and Victoria Vivians was a catalyst with four 3-point field goals.
• Against the Wings, Indiana scored at least 20 points in all four quarters for the first time this season.
• With Indiana’s triumph over Dallas, the Fever have beaten the current No. 2 (Atlanta), No. 3 (Minnesota), No. 4 (Los Angeles) and No. 8 (Dallas) teams in the WNBA standings, with two of them on the road.
• Candice Dupree led Indiana in its win over New York on Saturday with 25 points and six boards. Dupree shot 10-of-18 overall, after the team shot just 2-of-17 in the opening period. Dupree (now 5,963 points; 2,436 field goals) is ninth place on the WNBA’s career scoring chart and third on the career chart for field goals made.
• Cappie Pondexter is fourth on the league’s scoring chart (6,765) and fourth on the list for career field goals made (2,427). Similarly, Pondexter (1,451 free throws) passed Katie Smith (1,440) in fifth place on the WNBA career list, in a July 11 loss at Minnesota.
• The Indiana Fever held the New York Liberty to two points in the fourth quarter on Saturday, matching the second fewest points in any fourth quarter in league history. This marks the fewest points the Fever has ever allowed in any quarter as the Liberty missed all 15 shot attempts in the final period to become the eighth WNBA team ever to miss every field goal attempt in a single quarter.
• Indiana, 5-23, won consecutive games for the first time since May 20 and 24, 2017, and ended a five-game losing streak against the Liberty. The last-place Fever eliminated the Liberty, 7-20, from the WNBA playoff race by forcing 20 turnovers and allowing the fewest points by an Indiana opponent since a Sept. 1, 2015 win over Connecticut.
• Fourth-year center Natalie Achonwa collected her fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in the win over the New York Liberty.
• Both Cappie Pondexter and Erica Wheeler added 10 points apiece in the victory over New York. Erica Wheeler also handed out a game-high seven assists on Saturday.
• Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell (59)-Victoria Vivians (52) rookie tandem sports 111 3-pointers through 28 games, already second in league history by a pair of rookies on the same team. The league mark by a pair of first-year players on the same team is 118.
• Mitchell 59 3-pointers are fifth-best in league history by a rookie. In pursuit of the league’s record for a rookie, she trails only Diana Taurasi (62 in 2004), Tonya Edwards (66 in 1999), and Tamika Catchings (76 in 2002) and Crystal Robinson (76 in 1999).
