The Indiana Fever take on the Washington Mystics at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in the first of four regular season matchups of the season at 7 p.m. ET.

On Sunday night, Indiana fell to the Phoenix Mercury, 85-82, at the Fieldhouse after a fourth quarter rally put Phoenix ahead to ultimately secure the win.

Fever forward NaLyssa Smith led Indiana in the scoring column as she contributed her second consecutive double-double and her fifth double-double of the season against Phoenix with a career-high 29 points on 11-of-19 shooting, while pulling down 12 rebounds. Smith is one of the four players in the WNBA still averaging at least 10 rebounds per game.

Veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell leads the team in scoring (16.8 ppg) and had a record-setting night against the Mercury. With her first of two assists of the night, Mitchell took sole possession of fourth place for most assists all-time in franchise history with 472 career assists. She surpassed Katie Douglas with 470 assists, and now trails Erica Wheeler in third place with 587. In addition, Mitchell’s four completed field goals propelled her to second place in franchise history for most made field goals with 903, now ranking behind only Tamika Catchings.

Indiana’s backcourt tandem is completed with Erica Wheeler, averaging 9.1 points per game while leading the team in assists (5.2 apg). Against Chicago, Wheeler recorded a new franchise record 12 assists in the overtime loss. Guard Kristy Wallace has been contributing impactful support off the bench averaging 7.9 points per game.

Center Aliyah Boston, the WNBA Rookie of the Month for May, is second in the league in field goal percentage shooting an efficient 64.7 percent (44-of-68) from the floor. She currently leads all 2023 rookies in scoring average (13.6 ppg), rebounds (7.1 rpg), minutes (28.2 mpg) and blocks (1.5 bpg).

For Washington, the Mystics enter the matchup on a two-game win streak after defeating the Storm in Seattle both Friday, 73-66, and Sunday, 71-65.

Though she did not play against Seattle due to injury, Washington is led in scoring by veteran forward Elena Delle Donne. The six-time All-Star is averaging 18.6 points per game and scored a season-high 27 points in their loss against the Connecticut Sun on May 23.

Second-year center Shakira Austin, who contributed four double-doubles in the entirety of the 2022 regular season, has already recorded four double-doubles in 2023 and neared one on Sunday against Seattle with 11 points and nine rebounds. The No.3 pick in the 2022 WNBA draft is averaging 13.5 points per game and leads the team in rebounding at 9.2 per game.
