Indiana Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston Earn 2025 All-WNBA Honors

The 2025 regular season threw plenty at the Indiana Fever, but with Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston leading the way, the team never lost its direction.

Tasked with steering an injury-depleted roster, Mitchell and Boston rose to the moment, turning adversity into opportunity as they delivered two of the finest seasons in Fever history, leading Indiana to a franchise-record 24 wins and a second straight playoff berth.

The historic seasons by Mitchell and Boston didn’t merely rewrite Fever history, but cemented their names among the league’s all-time greats.

On Friday, the duo were recognized among the league’s best, as Mitchell earned All-WNBA First Team honors and Boston made the All-WNBA Second Team. Only 10 players make All-WNBA teams each season, and the league has presented the award every year since its inception in 1997.

Mitchell and Boston are just the fourth and fifth players to earn All-WNBA honors while with the Fever. The others include Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings, a 12-time All-WNBA selection (seven times on the First Team); Katie Douglas, who made two All-WNBA Second Teams during her time in Indiana; and Caitlin Clark, who was a First Team All-WNBA selection during her 2024 Rookie of the Year campaign.

With the announcement, Mitchell and Boston become the second duo in franchise history to make All-WNBA teams in the same year, joining Catchings and Douglas who were both All-WNBA selections in 2009 and 2010.

Mitchell’s MVP-Caliber Season Fuels Fever

Kelsey Mitchell has long been known as one of the elite scoring guards in the WNBA, but in her eighth season with Indiana she took her game to an MVP level.

The veteran sharpshooter finished the 2025 regular season as the league leader in 3-pointers made (111) while also scoring the second-most points overall (890), leading all guards in scoring. She ranked third in the WNBA in points per game (20.2), as her scoring average broke a two-decade Fever record set in 2003 by Tamika Catchings (19.7 points per game).

Mitchell’s scoring wasn’t just in bunches, but historically efficient. Just five other guards in WNBA history have shot at least 45.6 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from 3-point range and averaged 20.2 points per game in a season. She also averaged 3.4 assists per game to lead the Fever offense.

The Ohio native topped the Fever in minutes played (1,381) last season, starting all 44 games on a team that saw 18 different players suit up due to injuries.

Mitchell also set new franchise records for points scored in a single season and became Indiana’s leader in career 3-pointers made (669), good for eighth-most in WNBA history. Additionally, she set a new franchise record for most 30-point games in a career, earning her 11th and passing Catchings for the record.

“Kels is just one of a kind,” Fever head coach Stephanie White said. “She’s someone who can get a shot whenever she wants, someone who can make plays, and she’s very understated in how she does it.”

In addition to her consistent production, Mitchell continually proved she can perform in the clutch.

When the Fever needed a big scoring performance, Mitchell often answered. She had four 30-point games this season, all on the road, including a career-high 38-point performance in an overtime victory at Connecticut on Aug. 17, when she led the Fever back from a 21-point deficit.

For her efforts, Mitchell was named a WNBA All-Star for the third consecutive year and earned two WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors. In addition to being an MVP finalist, an award that ultimately went to A’ja Wilson of Las Vegas, Mitchell was named to the AP All-WNBA First Team.

Just the third Fever player to earn All-WNBA First Team recognition, Mitchell’s 2025 season will always be mentioned among the greatest seasons in franchise history.

Boston’s Brilliance Recognized

During her 2025 campaign, Aliyah Boston continued to show why she’s the cornerstone of the Fever’s frontcourt and among the elite bigs in the WNBA.

Boston’s inside presence helped stabilize the team as it cycled through different guards due to injuries, with her elite offensive IQ and defensive versatility playing a major role in the Fever’s record-breaking season.

In her third pro season, Boston averaged a career-high 15 points per game on a highly efficient 53.8 percent shooting from the field while also pulling down 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists — the most by any center in the league — 1.2 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game.

Boston’s 7.1 win shares ranked her as the fourth-best player in the entire WNBA. When she was on the floor, Indiana’s offensive rating was eight points higher and its defensive rating two points better than when she was off the court.

Boston finished the season fourth in total rebounds across the WNBA, recording 361 in 34 games. Her 361 total rebounds set a new franchise record for most in a single season, surpassing the previous mark she set in both 2023 and 2024.

Additionally, the three-time WNBA All-Star finished the year with 17 double-doubles — the third most in the league last season and the most in a single season in franchise history.

Boston was a model of consistency but could also put up big numbers when her team needed it. She scored a career-high 31 points on 13-for-18 shooting against the Seattle Storm on June 25, and from late July to Aug. 4 recorded a franchise-record six straight double-doubles. Against the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 30, she notched a career-best six steals, including a game-sealing one with 1.9 seconds left.

Fever head coach Stephanie White noted that no player on the team had to adjust her playing style more due to the team’s injuries than Boston, who played all 44 games for Indiana. Boston had to play less in the pick and roll and in the low post and more as a facilitator on offense.

During her 2025 campaign, Boston eclipsed 1,000 career rebounds, becoming the fastest player in franchise history to do so. With 1,051 total rebounds in three seasons, Boston sits fourth all time in franchise history and just 64 away from passing Ebony Hoffman for third place. With 41 blocks last season, Boston moved into third in franchise history with 140 total for her career.

On Wednesday, Boston was named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team. She is the first Fever player since 2017 to earn WNBA All-Defensive honors and the fifth overall to do so, joining Tully Bevilaqua (six times), Tamika Catchings (12 times), Katie Douglas (five times) and Briann January (six times).

Boston has proven she’s one of the best basketball players in the world in each of her first three seasons with the Fever, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down heading into 2026.
