After spending the entire 2020 regular season in the ‘Wubble’ in Bradenton, Fla., the Indiana Fever return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the first regular season home game of the 2021 season. This will be the second of three games matching the Fever against the Liberty this season after falling on Friday night after a final-second heave from Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu fell to give New York the 90-87 win. The two teams will not meet again until the Liberty return to Indy on July 9 at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Sunday will be the first of eight occurrences this season the Fever play the same team on consecutively. Indiana was paced by a team-high 23 points from Kelsey Mitchell and a 22-point, 16-rebound double-double effort from Teaira McCowan. Indiana controlled the glass on Friday night winning the rebound advantage 45-28. McCowan and Jantel Lavender were the first pair of Fever teammates to grab at least seven rebounds in the same game in franchise history. Lavender also notched a milestone of her own surpassing the 2,500 career point plateau with her first basket of the season. While, McCowan’s 16 rebounds tied the most by a Fever player in a game against the Liberty.

New York was paced by a game-high 30 points from Betnijah Laney on 11-of-18 shooting, while rookie Michaela Onyenwere contributed 18 points and five rebounds in her first regular season game.

Sunday’s game will also be the second game of the season for both teams in the newly announced Commissioner’s Cup.
