The Indiana Fever (5-8) look to bounce back on Monday at 10 p.m. ET after a 101-88 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday for the third and final matchup of the season between the two teams. The Aces secured the lead two minutes into the game and held on to it throughout the remainder of the matchup while shooting 53.1 percent (34-of-64) from the court and 47.8 (11-of-23) from behind the three-point line.
In Saturday’s matchup, four Fever players ended the night in double-figures, highlighted by NaLyssa Smith’s 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting. She recorded her seventh double-double of the season against Las Vegas as she also added 11 rebounds to go along with two steals. Entering Monday, Smith is averaging 14.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
Fever rookie center Aliyah Boston contributed 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals against the Aces, while shooting 8-of-8 from the floor through the third quarter. Boston recorded 14 of her 18 points in the first half on 6-of-6 shooting from the court and 2-of-2 shooting from the free throw line.
Boston will take the floor at Michelob ULTRA Arena after being named a starter for the 2023 WNBA All-Star game on Sunday. She is only the eighth rookie in WNBA history and fourth player in Fever franchise history to earn an All-Star game starting nod. She continues to lead all 2023 rookies in scoring average (15.6 ppg), rebounds (8.1 rpg), blocks (1.5 bpg) and minutes played (29.4 mpg), while also leading the league in field goal percentage shooting 65.1 percent on average (82-of-126).
Fever guard Lexie Hull added a season-high 15 points in the matchup, as she went 2-of-3 from behind the three-point arc and tied her season record for made three-point field goals. Kristy Wallace came off the bench to deliver 13 points and tied a career-high six assists. Wallace leads all Fever reserves in scoring averaging 8.4 points per game.
Aces center A’ja Wilson led all scorers on Saturday as she recorded a season-high 28 points to go along with 10 rebounds and two blocks. Kelsey Plum and Candace Parker both also recorded season-highs with 26 points and 15 points, respectively. Chelsea Gray added 13 points and a season-high 12 assists, while Jackie Young pitched in 10 points.
Entering Monday’s matchup, the Aces lead the league in offensive output (93.2 ppg), field goal percentage (50.4 percent), three-point field goal percentage (38.0 percent), steals (8.3 spg), and blocks (5.8), while also converting the least amount of turnovers per game (12.5 tpg). They are led in scoring this season by Young, who is averaging 20.2 points per game, and Wilson, who is averaging 19.3 points per game.
