INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever announced today the team has completed trades with the Las Vegas Aces and Minnesota Lynx.
In a trade with Las Vegas, the Fever acquired guard Lindsay Allen and the No. 24 overall selection in the 2021 WNBA Draft, in exchange for the No. 14 pick in the 2021 draft.
The Notre Dame alumna started all 21 games she appeared in during the 2020 regular season for the Aces. Allen recorded career-high averages in points per game, field goal percentage and free throw percentage.
The 5-foot-8 guard was selected in the second round by the New York Liberty in the 2017 WNBA Draft after compiling a record-setting collegiate career. Allen started all 149 games for the Fighting Irish, while compiling a 139-10 record in South Bend. She set Notre Dame records for single-season assists (282 in 2016-17), career assists (841), career starts, consecutive career starts, single-season minutes played (1,279 in 2016-17), and set what is believed to be an NCAA record for consecutive games started.
“Lindsay will add to our championship culture, as well as a winning mentality to a position that requires tremendous leadership,” General Manager Tamika Catchings said. “In addition to bringing in Lindsay, being able to add flexibility with our draft picks as result of these two trades is a great asset for us to utilize moving forward.”
In a separate deal, the Fever also sent a second round pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft to Minnesota, in exchange for a first and third round pick in the 2022 draft, guard Odyssey Sims and the exclusive negotiating rights to center Temi Fagbenle (pronounced TEM-ee fag-BEN-lay).
Fagbenle, who was selected in the third round of the 2016 WNBA Draft by Minnesota, opted out of play last season. The 6-foot-4 center averaged 5.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 15.0 minutes per contest in 18 games played with the Lynx during the 2019 season.
Sims was waived by Indiana following completion of the trade.
