Fever Acquire Jantel Lavender From Chicago Sky, Trade Stephanie Mavunga

BRADENTON, Fla. – The Indiana Fever have acquired forward Jantel Lavender, as well as a second and third round draft pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft from the Chicago Sky, in exchange for forward Stephanie Mavunga.

Lavender underwent surgery on the fifth metatarsal in her left foot before the 2020 season began and will not play the rest of this season. She averaged 8.7 points and 4.8 rebounds in 288 games over nine seasons in the WNBA.

Throughout Lavender’s career, she won a WNBA Championship and the Sixth Woman of the Year award with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2016. Lavender was also a WNBA All-Star in 2015 with Los Angeles.

The 6-foot-4 forward was the fifth overall selection by Los Angeles in the 2011 WNBA Draft.

Mavunga, who has not played since August 7, played 54 games in her first three seasons with the Fever. She averaged 5.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 11.8 minutes per contest in five games played with Indiana this season.

The team also announced today they have released forward Alisia Jenkins, who made her debut on Tuesday night against Seattle.

The Fever conclude the regular-season series with Dallas on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on CBS. Saturday’s game will not be streamed on FeverBasketball.com, the Indiana Fever’s Facebook page or via the Fever app.
