Natalie Achonwa is eager to get back on the court. An All-American at Notre Dame, Achonwa tore her left ACL in an NCAA regional final game last season. So although she was drafted ninth overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2014 WNBA Draft, Achonwa had to sit out the 2014 WNBA season.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Achonwa officially signed her rookie contract with the Fever last month and is on track to be ready to go for training camp in May.

Achonwa, a member of the Canadian National Team, has been in Indianapolis since last fall, commuting back-and-forth from South Bend, where she is working with the Notre Dame women’s basketball program. In recent weeks, Achonwa has been rehabbing with Fever trainer Todd Champlin. Last week, we caught up with her after a workout on the Bankers Life Fieldhouse practice court.

In the video interview above, Achonwa talks about her excitement for the 2015 WNBA season, gives an update on the health of her knee, and shares her plans to get involved in the community.
