Indiana Fever Sign Brazilian Center Nadia Colhado

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever have announced the signing of 6-4 center Nadia Colhado, a two-year WNBA veteran and a two-time Olympian from Brazil who is currently the top scorer in Spain.

Colhado appeared in 22 games with Atlanta over the 2014 and 2015 WNBA seasons, serving as a backup to fellow Brazillian native Erika de Souza. She played in 16 games as a rookie and owns WNBA career averages of 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds. She did not play in the WNBA in 2016.

Colhado, 28, currently stars in Spain where she averages 18.8 points and 11.5 rebounds for Gipuzkoa UPV. She is the top scorer in the Spanish LFB, and the second-leading rebounder. She also ranks third in the Spanish league with 1.1 blocked shots per game.

A native of Marialva, Brazil, she averaged 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds during the 2016 Olympics in her native country, playing in a reserve capacity behind de Souza. During the 2012 Olympics in London, she averaged 1.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. She has represented the Brazilian National Team since 2009.

Colhado’s invitation to training camp with the Fever coincides with three other post players recently signed by President and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf: Bashaara Graves, Victoria Macauley and Shanece McKinney.
