Fever Waive Goree, Pohlen, and Taylor as Regular Season Approaches

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever have waived Cyesha Goree, Jeanette Pohlen and Asia Taylor from their training camp roster, it has been announced by President and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf. The Fever, who beat Washington 89-69 in a preseason game Friday afternoon, trimmed their roster to 13 players. A final cut to 12 players will be made by May 13.

Indiana concluded its preseason 2-0, and opens the 2016 WNBA season at Bankers Life Fieldhouse against Dallas on Saturday, May 14 (6:00 p.m.). Pregame festivities next Saturday feature an Eastern Conference Champions banner, hung in celebration of the Fever’s third trip to the WNBA Finals.

Goree and Taylor were offseason free agents brought to training camp to compete for a spot on the club’s roster. Pohlen is a four-year WNBA veteran and a member of Indiana’s championship team of 2012. Drafted by the Fever in 2011, she became the first rookie in league history to lead the WNBA in 3-point shooting percentage. A participant in two WNBA Finals, her career with Indiana was beset by ACL and Achilles’ tendon injuries, forcing her to miss parts of the past three seasons, including all of 2014.

“Jeanette has been a selfless, dedicated player who has been a positive presence in our locker room and in our franchise,” acknowledged Krauskopf. “She is a first-class person and teammate. I want to thank her for her dedication and hard work.”
