Sharrona Moore Named Next Anthem Assists Award Winner

INDIANAPOLIS – Sharrona Moore has been named the next Anthem Assists Award winner, the Indiana Fever announced today. Moore will be honored on Saturday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum when the Fever take on the Las Vegas Aces at 1 p.m. ET.

“A large aspect of our partnership with Anthem, Inc. is based around eradicating food insecurity in impoverished communities and Sharrona has proven to be a leading force in erasing hunger here in Marion County,” Fever President Dr. Allison Barber said.

As the CEO and Garden Manager at Lawrence Community Gardens, Inc. Moore works to eradicate food insecurity in her community, where many individuals reside in a food desert. At Community Gardens, Inc., Moore oversees the operation of a non-profit, 7.6 acre youth farm that provides produce to local pantries, apartment complexes and senior communities, while teaching students how to cultivate their own crops.

Moore also earned a certificate in Urban Agriculture from Purdue University.

“Winning the Anthem Assists Award lets our students and staff know that our commitment to providing access to nutrient-dense, local and organic food for our community is recognized and appreciated,” Moore said. “It humbles us and helps to give us more of a reason to keep fighting the good fight.”
