Game Recap: Fever Drop First of Back-to-Back Games Against Aces

INDIANAPOLIS – In the second matchup against the Las Vegas Aces this season, the Indiana Fever were defeated 93-72 on Friday night. Fever rookie center Queen Egbo led the team in scoring with 13 points. Both guards Kelsey Mitchell and Destanni Henderson finished with 12 points, with all of Henderson’s points coming from behind the three-point line.

Indiana turned Las Vegas over five times in the first quarter, but the Aces corrected miscues to end the first half shooting 22-of-32 from the field and in control with a 54-37 lead. Aces forward A’ja Wilson led all scorers with 18 points at the halfway mark and would finish the game with 22.

Las Vegas shot only 8-of-24 in the third quarter, but maintained a sizable advantage against the Fever. Henderson hit three of her four three-pointers in the quarter, helping cut the deficit to 13 at one point. The Aces were able to recover in the fourth quarter and extend its lead to as much as 28 for the victory.

Aces guard Kelsey Plum also hit the 22-point mark, while guard Jackie Young scored 15. Indiana turned Vegas over 19 times in the matchup, but the Aces were able to outscore the Fever 20-10 in points off turnovers.
