Kelsey Mitchell Scores 32 Points As Fever Conclude Regular Season at Chicago

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever capped off the 2021 regular season on Sunday with a 98-87 loss to the Chicago Sky. Indiana finished the regular season 6-26.

Despite having only six players active in the regular season finale, the Fever went into the locker room at halftime tied 46-46 with the Sky. Chicago built a lead as large as 17 in the second half and will now welcome the Dallas Wings in the first round of the WNBA playoffs on Thursday.

Kelsey Mitchell ended her 2021 campaign with the second most points scored in her career with 32 points on 12-of-17 shooting. This is the first time a Fever player scored at least 30 points in a game since Mitchell poured in a franchise-best 38 points to conclude the 2019 regular season at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Mitchell reached double figures in the first half, which extended her league leading 23-game streak of scoring in double figures into the 2022 season.

The highest scoring season in Mitchell’s career, 569 points, is the fifth most by a Fever player in franchise history. Her 212 made field goals are also the third most scored in a season by a Fever player.

Teaira McCowan added 13 points and nine rebounds to end 2021 with a new franchise record of rebounds secured with 308. McCowan held the previous franchise high, 305 rebounds, from her rookie season in 2019.

To conclude 2021, which was spent playing for the Fever, Las Vegas Aces and Connecticut Sun, Emma Cannon poured in a career-best 19 points and tied a season-high eight rebounds.

Lindsay Allen ended the best statistical year of her career with 10 points and a new career-high 10 assists. Allen ended 2021 scoring in double figures in seven of the last 10 games.

For Chicago, Diamond DeShields became the first player tonight to have at least 30 points, five rebounds and five assists off the bench in a WNBA game.
