Game Recap: Kelsey Mitchell Continues Great Start to 2022 Season as Fever Lose at Dream

ATLANTA – Kelsey Mitchell finished her eighth game with at least 20 points scored this season in Sunday’s 75-66 loss at the Atlanta Dream. Through 13 games this season, Mitchell still owns the second best scoring average in the league at 19.5 points per game, which is also a career-best average.

The Fever head to Connecticut this week at 3-10 this season, while Atlanta travels west to face Seattle on Tuesday with a 7-4 record.

Rookie forwards NaLyssa Smith and Queen Egbo both started up front again for Indiana. Smith finished with 10 points, which was her seventh game scoring in double figures, and four rebounds. Egbo led the team in rebounding for the seventh time this season with eight boards to go along with six points.

Fever guard Victoria Vivians saw her career-best seven-game streak of scoring at least 10 points come to an end with five points on just 2-of-12 shooting. Vivians is still averaging a career-high 11.8 points per game this season.

Emily Engstler led the Fever reserves with six points and seven rebounds in more than 21 minutes. Destanni Henderson tied a career best with five assists off the bench as well.

For Atlanta, Rhyne Howard and Nia Coffey led the Dream with 16 points each. Howard, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, was held to only two points in the first half. Coffey shot 7-of-11 from the floor to finish with a season-high. Aari McDonald came off the bench for 12 points and Cheyenne Parker added 11 points.
