Game Recap: Dream Come Back in Second Half to Beat Fever

ATLANTA – With only seven players active to play for the second time this season, the Indiana Fever raced out to a double-digit lead in the first half on Tuesday night at the Atlanta Dream. Atlanta would move in front with 4:15 remaining in the third quarter following a driving layup from Candice Dupree and the Dream never trailed the rest of the way to win, 85-78.

Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 18 points, continuing her streak of 21 consecutive games scoring in double figures. In the 10 games since resuming play following the Olympic break, Mitchell has averaged 18.9 points per game. Mitchell ended the night surpassing 1,800 career points, making her the fourth player in franchise history to reach the milestone with the Fever. Her six rebounds also tied her season high.

Teaira McCowan ended the night with 15 points, 14 rebounds and tied a career-high with five blocked shots. Tuesday night was McCowan’s 28th double-double of her career and her 12th this season, which is the most double-double games recorded in a season in her three-year career.

Lindsay Allen played a career-high 36:59 of game action and finished with 14 points and five assists. Allen has now scored in double figures in five of the last eight games. She only reached 10 points three prior times to this recent scoring streak.

Emma Cannon and Victoria Vivians rounded out the Fever starting lineup and capped the night with 13 and 12 points each, while combining for nine of the 22 Fever assists.

Atlanta’s second-half resurgence was fueled by 22 points from Tiffany Hayes in the final 20 minutes. Hayes concluded the evening with her third career 30-point scoring output. Courtney Williams and Candice Dupree both added 15 points for Atlanta, who snapped a two-game losing streak with the win.
