Game Preview: Fever Host the Wings for PRIDE Night

The Fever return to the court for Pride Night, presented by Salesforce, to celebrate diversity and inclusion as part of PRIDE Month. Earlier this month, Fever representatives, including Danielle Robinson and Victoria Vivians, volunteered at Indiana Youth Group as part of “Project Prism”, a program that provides up to two years of rent assistance and support services to individuals ages 18-24.

Thursday’s game marks the longest stretch of days between games this season after Indiana was unable to hold on to the lead on Saturday at Washington. Fever guard Danielle Robinson poured in a season-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting on Saturday night to help the Fever build a lead as large as 12 in the first quarter.

Indiana and Washington had six lead changes in the fourth quarter, but Washington gained advantage with 5:30 remaining in the game and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way.

The Dallas Wings come to Indy after losing three of the last four games, including Tuesday night’s road contest at the Connecticut Sun, 80-70. One of the iconic names in Notre Dame history, Arike Ogunbowale, led Dallas with 18 points and five assists against the Sun. Noblesville native and Heritage Christian alumna, Tyasha Harris, is in her second season after being drafted with the seventh pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft. Harris is averaging 6.6 points and a career-best 3.3 assists per contest through 14 games this season.

Dallas has revamped its roster through the draft with six first round picks made combined in the 2020 and 2021 drafts, including the first two picks in this April’s draft. Charli Collier from Texas and Awak Kuier (pronounced uh-WOK KOO-ear) from Finland solidified the Dallas frontcourt as the first two names off the draft board this year. Collier has started 13 of 14 games this season and averaging 3.8 points to go along with 4.1 rebounds per game, while Kuier has appeared in only five games this season.

Dallas is the only opponent Indiana will play twice during the regular season.

The Fever will not play again until welcoming the Connecticut Sun to Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Thursday, July 1 at 7 p.m. for the first of two games in three days. Tickets are still available and fans across the state, as well as in Kentucky and Ohio, can also tune in for Fever games this year at FeverBasketball.com and the team’s official Facebook page.
