Game Preview: Fever Look to Split Series With Storm

The Fever close out the three-game homestand on Thursday with the second game in three days against the Seattle Storm at 7 p.m. ET.

Thursday’s game could feature a new addition as rookie guard Aaliyah Wilson is probable to make her WNBA debut. Wilson was traded to Indiana on draft night in April in exchange for Kennedy Burke. The 5-foot-11 guard began her college career at Arkansas before transferring to Texas A&M. Wilson played just nine games as a sophomore in College Station before sustaining a knee injury.

Wilson became a starter as a senior, averaging 12.7 points and 5.9 assists per game for the Aggies.

Last Meeting
June 15, 2021: The Storm took Tuesday’s matchup, 87-70 at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. In the Fever backcourt, Kelsey Mitchell is averaging 20.3 points per game and shooting 47.6 percent since June 3, including a season-high 26 points in Tuesday night’s loss. This season’s leading scorer for Indiana shot 9-of-20 from the floor and dished out four assists against the league-leading Storm.

Tiffany Mitchell was able to get to the rim consistently as she tallied her fifth straight game finishing in double figures. Her first made field goal of the game moved her into sixth in franchise history for most points scored passing Shavonte Zellous.

The Fever reduced the Storm lead to six in the second half, but were unable to contain the Seattle trio featuring Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd and Sue Bird. Stewart finished with a team-high 20 points, game-best 12 rebounds and five assists for her sixth double-double of the season.

With the victory in Indiana Farmers Coliseum, the Storm matched its best 13-game start in franchise history. The 2010 and 2020 squads also won 11 of their first 13, and ultimately went on to win the WNBA championship.
