Game Preview: Fever vs Mystics

After an unprecedented offseason, the 2020 Indiana Fever season begins on Saturday night against the Washington Mystics. Tip against the 2019 WNBA champions is set for 5 p.m. ET.

Making her debut at the helm, Fever Head Coach Marianne Stanley will look across the court at the team she served as an assistant coach for the last decade. Stanley was announced as the seventh Fever head coach in franchise history back on November 26.

“I don’t know if that was by design by the league or what,” Stanley told reporters earlier this week regarding the opening game against her former team.

Washington will be without both former WNBA MVP’s on their roster in Tina Charles and Elena Delle Donne.

Beginning Saturday, 21 Indiana Fever regular season games will be streamed live at no cost to fans at, on the Indiana Fever’s Facebook page, or via the Fever app. Pat Boylan returns for his sixth season as play-by-play voice and will be joined by former Fever coach and player, Tully Bevilaqua. Boylan and Bevilaqua will bring you the action all season long from Indianapolis.

The game will also be available to watch on CBS Sports Network.

OUT – Lauren Cox (WNBA Medical Protocol), Erica Wheeler (WNBA Medical Protocol).
QUESTIONABLE – Kathleen Doyle (Right Ankle)

Saturday’s game will be the second time in franchise history the Indiana Fever open the regular season against the

defending WNBA champions. The Fever lost to 2000 WNBA champion Houston, 82-78, to open up the 2001 regular season.

The Fever will enjoy the longest stretch between games during the abbreviated 2020 season, as they wait until Wednesday for a matchup against the Phoenix Mercury at 7 p.m.
