Fever Open West Coast Road Trip Against Las Vegas

After splitting a two-game set with the Washington Mystics at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the Indiana Fever head west beginning with a two-game series taking on the Las Vegas Aces starting on Friday night.

Tip is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.

Las Vegas has controlled the recent series with the Fever, winning 10 of the last 11 matchups, including both games last year in the ‘Wubble’. Indiana last defeated the Aces on August 27, 2019, 86-71. The Fever have yet to defeat the Aces in Las Vegas since the franchise moved from San Antonio after the 2017 season.

Las Vegas is paced once again by last year’s MVP, A’ja Wilson, who currently averages 17.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 33.6 minutes per game. Frontcourt running mate Liz Cambage, who did not play in the 2020 season, is back and averaging 13.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 23.4 minutes per game. Third-year guard Jackie Young is on pace for a career year, currently second on the team in scoring (16.2 points) and fourth in rebounding (5.0 rebounds).

The Aces enter Friday with the best shooting percentage as a team in the WNBA currently at a 46.9 percent clip this season. Las Vegas continues the dominance on the defensive end leading the league in blocks per game averaging 7.5 per game.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.

Last Meeting
August 11, 2020: The last time these two met it was in the WNBA “bubble,” at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Angel McCoughtry scored 20 points on 9-for-10 shooting to lead six Aces in double figures, as Las Vegas limited the Fever to 20 points in the second half of a 98-79 win.

Wilson finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, but was only 5-for-17 from the floor but the Aces shot 52 percent as a team.

Jackie Young also had her third straight double-figure game with 17 points and Dearica Hamby added in 13 points.
