Fever Overseas Update: (November 2015 – December 11, 2015)

Following their impressive run to the WNBA Finals, five members of the Indiana Fever are currently showcasing their talents overseas. (* Updated through December 11, 2015)

Player: Natalie Achonwa
Country: Italy
Team: Saces Mapei Napoli

Natalie Achonwa is playing in Italy for Saces Mapei Napoli. Her team is currently in ninth place in the Italian League, Serie A1, with a 3-6 record. After playing in three league games, she is averaging 15.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 35 minutes per game. She is shooting 71.4 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the free throw line.

Achonwa’s team is currently in second place in Group G in the Eurocup standings, having won three of their four games. In Eurocup play, she is averaging 10.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in 24 minutes per game, while shooting 42.3 percent on field goals and 69.6 percent on free throws. She has also hit one of her two three-point attempts.

Achonwa’s best performance overseas thus far came in a 53-65 loss in Italian league play to Passalacqua Spedizioni Ragusa on November 14. She posted a double-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and two steals while going 9-for-11 from the field.

Country: Turkey
Team: Fenerbahce Spor Kulubu Istanbul

Marissa Coleman is currently playing in Turkey for Fenerbahce Spor Kulubu Istanbul. Through five games in the Turkish KBSL league, she is averaging 11 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, while making 40.5 percent of her field goals, 31.3 percent of her three-pointers, and 75 percent of her free throws.

Coleman’s team is currently in first place in Group A of the Euroleague standings with a 5-1 record. In those six games (Coleman played in four) she is averaging 9.5 points, three rebounds, 1.8 assists, one steal, and 0.5 blocks. She is shooting 38.5 percent from the field, 30.8 percent on three-pointers, and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Coleman’s best game overseas this season came in a Euroleague win over Uniqa Euroleasing Sopron of Hungary on November 4. Coleman scored 15 points on 6-of-11 from the field, including 3-for-4 from deep, and added four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the 86-69 win.

Country: South Korea
Team: KB Stars Saoul

Natasha Howard is currently playing for the KB Stars Saoul in South Korea. Her team currently resides in fifth place in the WKBL standings. Through 12 games she is averaging 12.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 21.3 minutes per game. She is shooting a very efficient 52.7 percent from the field and 76.2 percent from the free throw line.

Howard’s most impressive performance thus far in South Korea came in a close 60-63 loss to Woori Hansae in overtime on November 15. She posted 24 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and three blocks, while knocking down 9-of-15 shots and all six of her three throws.

Shenise Johnson is playing in Slovakia for Good Angels Kosice. Her team is currently in first place with a perfect 14-0 record. After the six Slovakian-Extraliga games she has played in she is averaging 10 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 20.5 minutes per game. She is shooting 47.4 percent on field goals, 20 percent on three-pointers, and 77.8 percent on free throws.

Johnson’s team is currently in sixth place in Group A of the Euroleague standings with a 3-4 record. Johnson’s most recent game was her best of the season so far. In an 86-70 win over Uniqa Euroleasing Sopron, Johnson scored a season-high 21 points by hitting 8-of-16 shots, including 2-of-4 three-pointers, and added 15 rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 33 minutes of action.

Country: Turkey
Team: Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul

Lynetta Kizer is a member of Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul in Turkey. Her team is currently tied for second place with a 5-2 record in the Turkish KBSL league. In the two Turkish KBSL games she has played, she has averaged 14.5 points, three rebounds, and 0.5 steals in 25.5 minutes per game. She shot 47.8 percent from the field and hit all seven of her free throw attempts in 25.5 minutes per game.

Kizer’s team is currently in fourth place in Group A in the Euroleague standings with a record of 4-3. After playing in two Euroleague games she has averaged eight points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.5 steals. She is shooting 36.8 percent from the field and is perfect from the free throw line in 24 minutes per game.

Kizer’s most productive game since traveling to Turkey came in a close, 70-72 defeat at the hands of Abdullah Gul University Kayseri in Turkish KBSL league action. Kizer scored 21 points, hitting half of her 16 shots and all five free throws in 33 minutes played.

Two Fever teammates were pitted against each other in Turkey as Lynetta Kizer’s Galatasaray took on Marissa Coleman’s Fenerbahce on November 28. Kizer’s eight points, five rebounds, and a steal helped her team emerged as the victors, 76-72, while Coleman contributed nine points, three rebounds and a steal for her squad.
