With a 7PM (ET) tipoff time, Indiana Fever center Bernadett Határ is ready play and to contribute to her new team.
The 6-foot-10 center was signed to a training camp contract on March 11, but due to overseas obligations she reported to training camp late.
Now after going through COVID-19 protocol, Határ is expected to make her Fever debut on the road against the 2-0 Connecticut Sun. For Határ, it’s an exciting moment filled with a few butterflies as well.
“It’s huge thing for me,” Határ said with a smile. “This is my first time out of my country to play somewhere else, so it’s pretty scary, but I just want to help the team.”
One of those areas that she hopes to contribute and help her team is on the defensive end.
“I love to play defense,” Határ stated. “I think I can help the team [defensively], and that’s my goal.”
Speaking of the team, Határ added that since arriving her teammates have been great in helping her getting acclimated and comfortable.
“They are so nice. I had three practices with them, and we have a lot of sets. So, I have to learn a lot and if I forgot something, they come and help me.”
As for her family back home in Hungary, Határ says they might be even more excited to see her suit up for the Fever than anyone.
“[My family] asked me to send the link where they can watch the game and I think they are more excited than me,” Határ said with a slight laugh and bright smile. “Like my mom keeps asking me like, ‘How are you? How are you doing?’ and she’s just annoying me, but yes I am getting lot support from home.”
