Anthem Assists Award Presented to Consuelo Poland Lockhart

INDIANAPOLIS – Consuelo Poland Lockhart is the latest recipient of the Anthem Assists Award, the Indiana Fever announced today.

The Latinas Welding Guild was founded by Consuelo Poland Lockhart in 2017 to address the lack of women in a male-dominated field, and empower them to pursue creative and economic opportunities through welding. Membership is open to all women in the Hoosier community.

With the intentions of becoming mentors, community leaders, educators and empower the Latino community and all women throughout Indiana, the Latina Welding Guild focuses on cultural awareness exhibitions and fundraisers that will show the art of welding.

“The commitment to growing the female workforce from Consuelo makes this Anthem Assists Award such a fulfilling honor. Consuelo’s ability to make such a meaningful impression in a male-dominated industry is very commendable,” Fever President Dr. Allison Barber said.

The organization has expanded over a five-year period, and now offers welding certification courses and income-based scholarships for its members. Several women in the program have also secured careers after earning their certification.

“This is such a great honor because tis recognition allows me to continue empowering women to work in a profession they may never have considered before,” Poland Lockhart said.
