Overview: During what was far and away the best season of her WNBA career, Betnijah Laney played in all 34 games with 27 starts for the Fever. She boasted averages of 5.6 points and 4.2 rebounds while playing a vital role as the Fever’s top defensive stopper. Having started just three games in her career prior to 2019, Laney established career-best seasons in points (192), rebounds (143) and steals (48), with figures more than twice her previous highs. She finished with 20 3-pointers, after coming into the season with just one in her career. She registered at least one steal in 25 games and finished eighth in the WNBA with an average of 1.4 per game.

 

Notable Performances:

June 1: In her Bankers Life Fieldhouse debut against New York, Laney finished with nine points and three rebounds while matching her prior high with three steals.

June 13: A career-high 11 rebounds helped Indiana to a road win at Dallas. She played 38 out of 40 minutes and finished with six points and another three steals.

June 23: In a road loss at Seattle, Laney contributed six rebounds and a new career high with four steals.

June 28: Laney scored 12 points with five rebounds at Phoenix to match her career scoring high.

June 29: In a dramatic overtime loss at Las Vegas, Laney finished 3 of 4 from 3-point range for nine points and six rebounds. She entered the game with just six career 3-pointers.

July 14: Against Connecticut, she finished with 11 points, six rebounds and again tied her high with four steals.
